Lex Weekly is a not-for-profit legal newsletter focused on helping aspiring lawyers and early-career legal professionals stay informed on current legal developments and deepen their understanding of commercial concepts. Founded in July 2024, the newsletter has developed an international readership spanning over 50 countries, with contributions from both paid and volunteer writers.

Initially conceived by Kai Challicombe during his first year of studying Law, Lex Weekly was created in response to the emphasis placed on being ‘commercially aware’ throughout the legal profession, despite there often being little guidance on what this means in practice or how aspiring lawyers can develop it. After bringing the idea to fellow Law student and friend Callum Lintern, the project began to take shape and the Lex Weekly website was created. The first article was published in October 2024.

Since then, Lex Weekly has continued to expand both its readership and career initiatives. In December 2024, it launched the Winter Writer Scheme, a paid writing opportunity sponsored by Cardiff University Law Society that provided aspiring legal writers with the opportunity to contribute to the platform. In March 2025, Lex Weekly partnered with Cardiff University’s Women in Law Society to deliver Women’s Commercial Week, a series dedicated to celebrating women’s achievements within the legal profession and exploring contemporary commercial legal developments from the experiences of women in law.

Today, although both Kai and Callum have since graduated and begun pursuing their respective legal careers, they remain actively involved in Lex Weekly, continuing to publish articles and develop new initiatives for its readership, with Kai overseeing the platform’s ongoing development and future initiatives.
