The Winter Writer Scheme marks Lex Weekly’s first career-tailored scheme, where two students who are either a first-year law or second-year non-law undergraduate get the opportunity to write an article for Lex. During the Scheme, the students undertake researching current events in the law, and sending in drafts to the editing team until the article is amended and ready to publish. There are opportunities to network with team, and as well as this, the team at Lex offer guidance and support during the writing process. If a writer wants to continue their role with Lex Weekly they will receive a guaranteed interview at an undisclosed future date. For two years, we have officially partnered with Cardiff University’s Law Society, allowing our Scheme to offer paid positions for our successful applicants. Writers receive £25 for completion, totalling to £50 for both writers.
The first Winter Writer Scheme was held in December 2024, with details of that year’s Scheme found here.
Information for the 2025 Winter Writer Scheme is now available and can be found here.
