The Winter Writer Scheme 2025 marks the second year of Lex Weekly offering its career-tailored scheme, where two students who are either a first-year law or second-year non-law undergraduate get the opportunity to write an article for Lex. During the Scheme, the students will undertake researching current events in the law, and sending in drafts to the editing team before the article is ready to publish. There are opportunities to network with team, and as well as this, the team at Lex offer guidance and support during the writing process. If a writer wants to continue their role with Lex Weekly, they will be assessed during the Scheme and will be contacted shortly afterwards.
For the 2025 WWS, we are continuing our partnership with Cardiff University’s Law Society, allowing our Scheme to offer paid positions for our successful applicants. Writers for the 2025 Scheme will receive £25 for completion, totalling to £50 for both writers. Alongside payment, the Scheme provides invaluable legal writing experience for the students and will help boost CVs by showing a dedicated engagement in the commercial law.
